Booking platforms live or die on trust in the listing

A traveller booking a stay is trusting a photo and a description of a place they have never seen. Verified reviews, transparent pricing and consistent listing quality are what make that trust possible, and none of it happens automatically.

What we built

A hotel and stay booking platform covering hotels, rooms, apartments and hostels, with verified reviews, flexible reservations, and a role-based admin approval flow so no listing goes live unchecked.

  • Destination search across hotels, rooms, apartments and hostels.
  • Verified reviews and transparent, itemised pricing.
  • Role-based admin approval before any listing publishes.
  • Host-side ticket management with in-platform resolution chat.

Where the engineering actually was

Not in the booking flow itself, that part is well-trodden. It was in the admin approval layer: making sure every property type carries the same approval gate, and that host support tickets resolve without needing someone to dig through email threads.

The stack

Next.js and Express.js for the platform, PostgreSQL for property and booking data, Digital Ocean for hosting.
